With several Division I women college programs aggressively vying for The Kent School’s (CT) 6-foot-4 center Morgan Lee, today she broke some hearts, as she verbally committed to Georgetown, AAU Hoopers NY Head Coach Dan Melious Tweeted.

Melious has coached Lee, as well as his daughter, standout Nicole Melious, on the Hoopers NY squad for the last several years. And he could not be happier for Lee’s huge accomplishment.

“Morgan is someone I’m so proud of,” Dan Melious told BrooklynSportsWorld.com. “She has worked so hard for this. She deserves this. Watching her progress in the last four years in AAU has been special. She is a special player and a better person.”

In addition to Georgetown, Lee, a junior, held offers from Quinnipac, Manhattan, Marist, Fordham, Buffalo, Lafayette, West Virginia, Ole Miss, Monmouth, Wisconsin, among other schools, according to WBBBlog.com.

Lee and Nicole Melious made a fierce tandem on the AAU circuit, often giving severe migraines to opposing teams. And Dan Melious is confident that she will perform well with the Hoyas [Men’s Georgetown Collegiate Athletic 3 Retro Embroidered Navy Basketball Jersey- (XXL)] and her new teammates in no time.

“Her and Nicole have quite the bond and connection on the court,” he said. “She will make her impact there (Georgetown), and I’m glad I had the honor to coach her.”

Georgetown posted a 5-25 record and went 2-16 in the Big East Conference.
