Boys & Girls’ Hoops Standout Khalil Brantley Staying Put in Brooklyn

There have been numerous New York City-bred high school basketball players who have shined on the hardwood and blacktops across the Big Apple, only to leave the city for national powerhouse prep programs.

But Boys & Girls’ Khalil “Isofamkay” Brantley won’t be one of them, as the point guard and his family have decided to stay put at the Bedford–Stuyvesant school in Brooklyn under legendary basketball coach Ruth Lovelace.

Brantley and his family cited the family atmosphere, high standards to which student-athletes must meet at the school, and the extensive history that Boys & Girls High School holds as the reasons for him not transferring, according to a press release. 

Brantley boasted several accomplishments in the PSAL 2019-20 campaign. The highly-talented 6-foot-2, 170-pound player led the Kangaroos to the PSAL’s Brooklyn AA Championship, finished tenth in the nation in high school scoring, captured the PSAL scoring title with 34.6 points per game, made the Associated Press’s All-State first team, and earned a nomination for the Gatorade Player of the Year award. 

Additionally, Brantley holds many Division I offers from the likes of North Carolina A&T, La Salle, Norfolk State, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Manhattan, Creighton, and Iona.
