With the New York Mets sputtering this season, it’s good to look to the future of the franchise. Here are four Mets prospects with seemingly bright forthcomings for the club in Flushing, Queens.

After posting a 2-3 record with a 2.36 ERA with the High-A St. Lucie Mets, New York promoted right-handed pitcher Dunn, 22, to the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies of the Eastern League.
Dunn, a Freeport, Long Island, native and former 2016 Mets first round draft pick, is 1-2 with a 2.77 ERA in 27.0 innings in four games.
Dunn is fourth on New York’s MLB Pipeline’s Prospect Watch List.

Alonso tore up Double-A pitching with the Rumble Ponies, warranting a promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (PCL). Since then, through 12 tilts, the 23-year-old first baseman is batting .222 with 3 home runs and 11 RBI, including a 3-homer contest, in 45 at-bats in 12 games.
While Alonso, New York’s 2016 second round pick, has yet to heat up, chances are he will, as Cashman Field is hitter’s ballpark. Plus, he just too good of player not to hit well.
However, Alonso will need to cut down on the number of whiffs–as he has 16 to seven walks–if he wants to succeed long-term.
Alonso is second on the Mets’ MLB Pipeline’s Prospect Watch List.

Since New York called him up from mid-level-A Columbia Fireflies, where he recorded a hard-luck 1-4 mark with an impressive 1.82 ERA, lefty hurler Peterson has put up a 1-1 mark with a 3.97 ERA in 11.1 frames in two affairs.
The Mets selected Peterson in the first round of last year’s MLB June amateur draft.
Peterson is third on New York’s MLB Pipeline’s Prospect Watch List.

New York promoted Kay to High-A St. Lucie of the Florida State League (FSL) Friday.
Kay, a Stony Brook, Long Island, native, according CBSSports.com, went 4-4 with a 4.54 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 78:22 K:BB across 69.1 innings in 13 games with the Fireflies in 2018. It was his first foray into pro ball after returning from Tommy John Surgery this campaign.
Kay is twelfth on New York’s MLB Pipeline’s Prospect Watch List.
