The Ann Arbor, Mich., native most recently spent two seasons (2018-19) with the Hiroshima Carp in Japan. He combined to toss a 3-1 record with a 3.00 ERA, three saves, and 26 strikeouts over 33 innings in Japan’s Western and Central Leagues during the 2019 campaign.
Phillips, 34, launched four home runs, drove in 19 RBI, collected nine doubles and two triples while scoring 33 runs and swiping 13 bases in 77 games with the Ducks in 2013.
Iorio also proved effective in postseason play, pitching in five games, including three scoreless innings in Game Four of the Atlantic League Championship Series with the Ducks facing elimination.
