Ex-Brooklyn Cyclones, pitcher Gabriel Llanes and catcher Brandon Brosher, enjoyed solid games, pacing the Columbia Fireflies to a 4-2 victory over the Rome Braves Friday night at State Mutual Stadium.

Llanes (6-11) tossed 5.1 frames of marvelous one-run baseball, while Brosher slugged a bases loaded, three-RBI double down the third baseline for a 4-0 Columbia (68-67) lead.

The six-foot-four, 200-pound righty returned to form, allowing just one run in a start for the first time since May 10th.

The Fireflies’ bullpen did the rest of the heavy lifting, holding Rome to one run over 3.2 innings of work. Relievers Ryder Ryan and Matt Pobereyko pitched a combined 2.2 frames of scoreless ball.

Closer Matt Blackham, who hasn’t surrendered an earned run in 26.1 inning, dating back to June 27th, permitted one unearned run in the ninth.

However, the 24-year-old former Cyclone shut the door on the opposition to preserve the win.
