Hoopers NY Players Star on AAU Basketball Circuit, Earning Several College Offers

It certainly was a busy week for many AAU Hoopers NY players, as the colleges offers have been pouring in by the truck load for several talented team members.

First, a ton of Division I colleges have showered Millbrook High School’s (N.Y.) Natalie Fox, with William & Mary, College of Charleston, Colgate, Navy, Bucknell, Mount Saint Mary, Eastern Illinois, Illinois, Rider, La Salle, Boston University, Monmouth, Brown, Chicago State, Denver, Hampton, Wichita State, Fresno State, Marist and BYU throwing its hats into the bidding war.

She also holds offers from Bryant, Cleveland State, Xavier, Ohio State, Woffard, Miami of Ohio, Fordham, Hawaii, Seton Hall, Manhattan and Lafayette.

The 6-foot-4 rising senior is a force on the hardwood, as Hoopers NY head coach Dan Melious describes her as a Kevin Garnett-type of player, with the ability to dribble, shoot the three, and lead the break like a guard. Plus, rebound, finish with both hands and play a stellar defense, like a big her size is expected, and even more.

“College coaches are saying how she’s showing so much,” Melious said. “After seeing her play last year, I knew the offers would be coming in (this year). She does so many things on the court so well.”

Next, Jordanna Schrecker, a rising junior at New Dorp High School, has continued her excellent play. The 5-foot-9 gifted guard has picked up offers from FDU, Seton Hall, and USC Upstate, along with already holding ones from La Salle, Eastern Michigan, McNeese State, Manhattan, Cal Poly, Canisius, Presbyterian, Western Kentucky and Georgetown.

Stella Ziogas of Hoopers NY and New Rochelle High School.

Schrecker averaged 26.3 points in 14 regular season PSAL games with the Central Cougars, and 22 during the playoffs in two contests, according to PSAL.org.

Additionally, class of 2024 5-foot-7 Grace Ziogas of New Rochelle High School has earned offers from FDU, Morton College and Canisus College. Plus, she already holds one from University of the Pacific.

Then there is Stella Ziogas, Grace’s sister, whom Melious said that “many elevators say she’s big time.”

The 5-foot-5 true freshman dynamo also suits up from New Rochelle High School and has garnered offers from Nichols State and Chicago State.

She drained 20 points and added seven assists in a game at Boo Williams (Hampton, Va.) last weekend. Stella also racked up 18 points and nine helpers and 12 points and seven helpers in other tilts in the same tournament.

Lastly, Meaghan Doherty of Kenndey Catholic Preparatory (Somers, N.Y.) has played well so far and holds an offer from Division II JUCO Morton Womens’ basketball program (Cicero, Illinois).

In addition to Morton, the rising senior guard has a D1 JUCO offer from the Monroe College Mustangs, and interest from D1 colleges such as Adelphi, and DIII Anderson University, according to her Twitter account.
