The Gastonia Honey Hunters have re-signed ex-major league right-handed pitcher Zack Godley for the upcoming 2023 Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) season, today the team Tweeted.
Godley has pitched seven years in MLB, posting a 37-35 record with 547 strike outs and a 4.92 ERA in 568.2 innings of work in 138 games with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers, and Boston Red Sox.
Godley, 32, spent last year with the Cincinatti Reds’ Triple-A affiliate Louisville Bats, going 1-0 in 22.1 frames in 14 contests. He also pitched 54.1 innings for Gastonia in 2022, registering a 4.64 ERA and 1.23 WHIP, plus a 10.6 – 2.5 K-BB/9 ration.
Two different baseball organizations have selected Godley in MLB Drafts: the New York Mets in 2009 in the 50th round out of Bamberg Ehrhardt High School (Bamberg, S.C.), and the Chicago Cubs in the 10th round in 2013 out of University of Tennessee (Knoxville, Tenn).
