The Staten Island FerryHawks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) today announced that they have re-signed utility player Kelsie Whitmore for the upcoming 2023 season, the team Tweeted.
Last year, Kelsie made history on Staten Island as the first woman to play in a professional MLB affiliated league.
Whitmore starred on Cal State Fullerton’s softball team, batting .395 with 12 longballs in 52 games, capturing the 2021 Big West Player of the Year award in the process.
Additionally, the dual threat outfielder/pitcher has been a member of Team USA baseball for several years, capturing a silver medal in the Women’s Baseball World Cup in 2014.
Plus, Whitmore helped TEAM USA win gold glory at the 2015 Pan-American Games in Toronto and again in 2019 at the COPABE Women’s Pan-American Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
