Honey Hunters Ink 2: Former MLBer Curtis Terry, Ex-George Mason Pitcher Zach Mort


The Gastonia Honey Hunters of the independent Atlantic of Professional Baseball (ALPB) today announced the signings of two players: first baseman/outfielder Curtis Terry and right-handed pitcher Zach Mort, the team Tweeted.

Terry played with the Twins’ Triple-A affiliate, the Saint Paul Saints, batting .250 with 10 longballs and 32 RBI in 296 at bats in 80 games in 2022.

The 26-year-old has clubbed 90 home runs and 328 RBI with a .277 batting average and .848 OPS across seven professional baseball seasons. He recorded four hits and a one RBI in 13 contests with MLB’s Texas Rangers in the 2021 campaign.

Mort, who the Chicago Cubs selected in the 8th round of the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Division I George Mason University, posted a 7-4 record with a 4.99 ERA in 79.1 innings of work in 24 games for the Milwaukee Brewers’ High-A Wisconsin Midwest League affiliate last season.

Moret, 25, owns a 21-18 mark in 310.2 frames in 83 tilts over a four-year minor league career.

The Honey Hunters open up the 2023 ALPB season at home on Friday, April 28th at 6:30 P.M. against Frederick.
