Right-handed pitcher Nick Beardsley has reupped with the Washington Wild Things after appearing in 11 games with the team in 2022, Washington recently Tweeted.
The Wild Things selected Beardsley in the second-round of last year’s Frontier League Draft after he was at the league’s Tryout Camp. The 25-year-old Redondo Beach, California, native recorded a 1-0 record and tossed 23 innings and struck out 22 batters while walking seven opposing hitters.
Beardsley played four years at Point Park University (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and pitched a school-record 247 innings as a Pioneer. He also set the new school mark for career strikeouts by whiffing 272 opposing hitters, surpassing the old mark of 219.
Additionally, Beardsley earned All-River States Conference First Team honors as a senior with an 8-4 record and a 3.53 ERA. He made career highs in appearances with 18, starts with 15, wins with eight, innings with 89.1 and strikeouts with 108.
Beardsley first foray into professional baseball came with the Houston Apollos of the American Assocation, where he posted a 0-1 mark.
