Coming off a big season with the York Revolution, the Gastonia Honey Hunters have signed veteran infielder Carlos Franco for the upcoming Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) 2023 season, yesterday the team Tweeted.
Last season, the 31-year-old Dominican Republic native mashed a career-high 30 homeruns and drove in 95 runs to go along with a .298 batting average in 369 at bats in 101 games with the Revolution.
Across the last three campaigns with York, Franco has laced .308 with a .415 OBP and 56 longballs. As a result, he has been picked up by both Mexico and China during the last two years.
Franco has played as high as the Triple-A level with the Atlanta Braves’ Gwinnett club in 2017 and ’18.
The Honey Hunters’ season opener takes place on Friday, April 28 at 6:35 p.m. against Frederick.
