The Lexington Counter Clocks have added former MLB infielder Abiatal Avelino and outfielder Connor Owings to their 2023 roster, today the team Tweeted.
The 28-year-old Avelino has spent time in the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers farm systems, and played for the San Fransico Giants over the course of his 11-year professional career.
With the Giants, Avelino, who last played in August of 2019, has posted a .278 batting average with five hits and an RBI in 18 at-bats in 10 games.
Owings split 2022 with the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League and the Gastonia Honey Hunters of the Atlantic League, crushing 18 homeruns and 64 RBI with a .314 batting average in 347 at bats in 92 contests between both stops.
The 28-year-old owns a pro career .275 average and .828 on-base plus (OPS) slugging percentage after the Arizona Diamondbacks drafted him in the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft.
