On Wednesday, July 26 at 7:05 p.m., the Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-AA affiliate, will hand out Anthony Volpe Bobbleheads to first 1,000 fans through the gates at TD Bank Ballpark.
A good combination of speed and power, Volpe, who hails from Watchung, N.J., slugged 21 homeruns and swiped 50 bases out of 57 attempts last season between the Patriots and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Volpe, a shortstop and Yankees’ top prospect, played prep baseball at Delbarton School (Morristown, N.J.), along with future No. 2 overall pick Jack Leiter, both of whom led the Green Wave to a state non-public Class A championship in 2019. Then, New York proceeded to select Volpe in the first round, 30th overall, of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft.
