Eagle Academy II’s Eric Acker Commits to LIU Brooklyn Sharks Hoops


2023 Eagle Academy II Brooklyn (NY) point guard Eric Acker has committed to Division I LIU Mens’ basketball program, today the team announced via Twitter.

Eagle Academy II Eric Acker selects LIU Brooklyn Sharks Hoops over nine other programs.

Before committing to LIU, the 6-foot-1 Acker held offers from Fordham, St. Francis Brooklyn, Central Connecticut State, Cornell, NJIT, Binghamton, Boston University, Holy Cross and Lafayette, per VerbalCommits.com.

Acker had enjoyed a solid campaign, averaging 17 points and 9.2 rebounds per game in 13 regular season contests in 2022-23.

In his first postseason tilt, Acker scored 10 points in an Eagle 105-17 win over Manhattan Center for Science & Math at home.

Last year, Acker had paced the Eagles in the 2021-22 regular season scoring average with 18.7 points and dropped in 20.0 ppg in six postseason contests. Also, he helped guide his team to the PSAL Class “AA” Championship game, a 77-52 loss to South Shore at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn.

The Sharks posted a 3-25 overall record and went 1-15 in Northeast Conference (NEE) action this past season. LIU will travel to Merrimack in the first round of the NEC Tournament tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
