The Staten Island FerryHawks of the independent Atlantic League have signed infielder Luis Castro to a contract for the upcoming season, per today’s Tweet.
The inking comes on the heels of locking up returning FerryHawk Ricardo Cespedes, Jr. on Monday.
Castro, 27, suited up with the Gastonia Honey Hunters last season. slashing .273/.370/.445 with 12 home runs, 49 RBI and 17 stolen bases.
Previously, the 6-foot-1, 187-pound Castro has played as high as AAA in the Brewers organization, as well as serving some time with Colorado Rockies’ affiliates.
