The Gastonia Honey Hunters of the independent Atlantic League are bringing back a player closer to home, as they have recently signed Division I Coastal Carolina University (S. C.) baseball alum Billy Cooke IV for the upcoming 2023 season.
Injuries had the Florida native step away from the 2022 season, according to his Twitter account. But Cooke, an outfielder known for his glove, smacked .301 with one home run and 15 RBI in 44 games in 2021 with the Gary Southshore RailCats of the American Assocation.
The Seattle Mainers drafted Cooke in 8th round of the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft. The 27-year-old proceeded to make it all the way to Triple-A Tacoma in 2019.
