Millburn Deli Puts the Deli in Deliciousness

Ever since I started dating my girlfriend, Maggie, in Chatham, New Jersey, four and half years ago, we have hit so many tasty eateries in and around the area. But I haven’t gotten the opportunity to frequent a place that almost everyone in Morris County raves about: Millburn Deli in Millburn (of course).

That all changed when we sauntered over to the wildly popular sandwich-making paradise a few years ago.

In business since 1946, I’ve been told that Millburn Deli is always packed to the gills, and it was, even on a weekend when most Jersians hit “The Shore.”

The vast selections of sandwiches overwhelmed me a bit. So, I ordered a delicious Mediterranean Salad — Field Green Mix • Feta Cheese • Chickpeas • Tomato • Bell Pepper • Artichoke Hearts • Lemon Dijon • Vinaigrette Dressing.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking: A salad at Millburn Deli? But I am doing my best to eat healthier, and it was pretty hardy anyway, so don’t judge me.

Maggie ordered the Un-Brie-Lievable Sandwich — Smoked Turkey • Brie Cheese • Tomato • Lettuce • Honey Mustard • Multigrain Baguette. It was pretty good, I must say, even though brie cheese it a little highbrow for me. Give me the Mootz anytime.

On my next visit, I’ll show my Italian roots a little more by munching on a SOPRANO –Grilled Chicken Breast • Pepperoni • Provolone • Mozzarella • Fresh Basil • Roasted Red Peppers • Garlic Mayo • French Bread pressed. I will substitute the chicken for a vegan option since I am a vegetarian. I know, I know, but what can you do?

But I digress.

One of Millburn Deli’s biggest crowd-pleasers in The GODFADDA — Chicken Cutlet • Bacon • Sliced Fresh Mozzarella • Russian Sub Roll pressed. Hey, that’s why the masses take fish oils and Lipitor, for sandwiches like this. Take the gun but leave the GodFadda.

The Godfadda

THE GOBBLER — Roast Turkey • Homemade Stuffing • Cranberry • Lettuce • Mayo • Black Pepper • Rye Bread — is another must-try for you, notwithstanding.

Millburn Deli even makes an awesome iced tea, sweeten or not. It’s up to you.

Just be aware that the staff is pretty busy tending to all those customers, but they get to you pretty quickly, considering how hectic Millburn Deli can get. Therefore, take a number and chill.

If you rather not wait, you can either call ahead (973.379.5800) or order online, then pick it up.

Too lazy to leave your home? No worries, mate, you can order through DoorDash (free delivery on your first order, with a $15 minimum order to be eligible.

On a beautiful, sun-kissed day, you can dine alfresco, as Millburn Deli has an outdoor seating area. Just be aware that its parking lot can get a little nutty at times.

Days and hours are Monday – Sunday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
