Wagner girls’ basketball team had just two players score in double digits.
But when one of them is the phenomenal Nicole Melious, you sure to get an outstanding performance, as she drained a game-best 46 points to pace the Falcons (1-0) to a 79-54 victory over Medgar Evers Prep (0-1) in the ML Gators Thanksgiving Classic to open the season Saturday in Brooklyn.
Melious, a LaSalle commit, also grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out nine assists and four steals, while junior Samantha Harrell dropped in 20 points and senior Alexis Anderson chipped in with eight points and three helpers. Junior Saniyah Wilkerson added eight assists in the win.
Melious is just 10 points away from Wagner High School Basketball’s scoring record.
