OSL, NY Rens’ Ty-Laur Johnson Commits to Memphis Tigers Hoops

Class of 2023 Our Saviour Lutheran (Bronx, N.Y.) and NY Renaissance (Rens) guard Ty-Laur Johnson has verbally committed to Memphis Men’s basketball program, yesterday Andrew Slater Tweeted.

Ty-Laur Johnson chooses Memphis Tigers basketball.

Additionally, the 6-foot, 160-pound former St. Benedict’s Prep (N.J.) player held offers from Fordham, Pitt, VCU, Ole Miss, Creighton, NC State, Seton Hall and St. John’s, according to VerbalCommits.com.

The addition of Johnson gives Memphis a top-five ranked recruiting class for the 2023-24 campaign, per Slater.

The Newark, N.J., native drained team-bests with 388 points and 64 steals while grabbing 66 boards and dishing out 122 helpers this past season.

Johnson dropped in 103 points, pulled down ten rebounds, dished out six assists, and made seven steals in 14 contests in his freshman year (2019-20) at St. Benedict’s Prep.

The Tigers tipped of the season with a 76-67 win over Vanderbilt in Nashville on Monday.
