New Yankee Stadium Facts, History

Yankee Stadium is located in the Boggie Down Bronx, a borough of New York City. It serves as the home ballpark for the New York Yankees and Major League Soccer’s (MLS) New York City FC.

The $2.3 billion stadium replaced the original Yankee Stadium in 2009 and is the third-largest stadium in MLB by seating capacity, which is 46,537, according to MLB.com. But it holds 52,000 fans. The price tag makes the new Yankee Stadium one of the most expensive stadiums ever built. The original Yankee Stadium was demolished in 2010, two years after it closed, and was converted into a public park called Heritage Field.
