Lew Ford’s RBI single on Sunday was a milestone for him, as he recorded his 1000th hit in a Long Ducks’ uniform in the team’s 8-2 win over Charlestown Dirty Birds.
He became the fourth player in Atlantic League history to reach the mark. Bryant Nelson, Jeff Nettles and Ray Navarrete are the other three players.
Additionally, Ford, 46, owns 2,521 total professional hits, 425 of which were at the MLB level between the Minnesota Twins (2003-07) and Baltimore Orioles (2012) in six seasons of baseball.
Ford is in his 12th season with the Ducks organization, more than any other player in franchise history, and eighth in a player/coach role.
