Division III New Jersey Athletic Conference bestowed Kean graduate student-athlete Katie Pileggi, a lacrosse player, with the NJAC Defensive Player of the Week award, as the conference announced on Monday.
Pileggi, a Haddonfield, N.J., native, earns her second and the Cougars’ third NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honor. She ammassed 10 caused turnovers, 13 groundballs, and 16 draw controls in two games while also contributing offensively with 10 points on five goals and five assists.
In a double overtime heartbreaking defeat to Drew (N.J.), the Haddonfield Memorial High School product scooped 10 groundballs, caused six turnovers, and added a pair of goals and assists each. She followed up with four caused turnovers, three groundballs, three goals, and three helpers, as Kean bounced back with an NJAC win over Rutgers-Camden (N.J.).
Pileggi currently leads the NJAC in draw controls (7.18/game) and is second in caused turnovers (2.91/game) and groundballs (4.00/game). She also ranks sixth in points (3.45/game) and ninth in goals (2.36/game).
