Hoopers NY Rain Down on Competition in LBI April Showers 17U Tournament in Indy

Warsaw, Ind: Hoopers NY AAU captured the Lady Ballers Insiders (LBI) April Showers 17U Basketball tournament title over the weekend, with the help of a group of talented, young ballers.

First, 2023 Nicole Melious, who also stars on the PSAL’s Wagner High School squad on Staten Island, N.Y., took home tournament MVP, with an average of 28.2 points, 10.1 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game. No surprises there.

Melious, a Georgia Tech commit, is just a bucket waiting to happen, and she is able to drain the rock from pretty much anywhere on the hardwood. But she can also slice and dice her way to the hoop, which she did well during the tournament.

Checkout Nicole Melious’ high school hoops highlights from this past season.

2023 Maya Watts, a 6-foot-3 forward from Arlington High School (NY), averaged 14 points and 16 rebounds per game in five contests, showing her stock is indeed on the rise.

2024 Natalie Fox, of Millbrook High School (NY), displayed a much-improved game, with elements of strength, solid moves in the open court and athletic finishes at the rim. The 6-foot-3 wing/forward already holds numerous college hoops offers and is getting better by the day.

2025 Jordanna Schrecker, who enjoyed a breakout season at New Dorp High School on Staten Island, is a young, gifted baller that is putting the high school basketball world on notice.

Already receiving DI offers, Schrecker showed off her versatile skillset, scoring 15 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out six helpers in a game on Sunday.
