Staten Island FerryHawks Make Groundbreaking Move with Inking of Kelsie Whitmore

The Staten Island FerryHawks of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) have made a historic move today as they have announced the signing of 23-year-old Team USA product Kelsie Whitmore.

Staten Island FerryHawks sign Kelsie Whitmore, giving her the opportunity to be the first woman to appear in the ALPB.

Whitmore, if she makes the team, will become the first woman to appear in the ALPB.

Whitmore starred on Cal State Fullerton’s softball team, batting .395 with 12 longballs in 52 games last season. Additionally, the dual threat outfielder/pitcher has been a member of Team USA baseball since 2014, when she won a silver medal in the Women’s Baseball World Cup that year.

Plus, she helped TEAM USA capture gold at the 2015 Pan-American Games in Toronto and again in 2019 at the COPABE Women’s Pan-American Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Whitmore and the FerryHawks will kick off their 2022 Spring Training camp on Monday, April 11 and begin their regular season on Friday, April 22 at the Charleston Dirty Birds.
