The Staten Island FerryHawaks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) have signed Eddy Reynoso, a catcher-turned-pitcher, to a contract for the upcoming season.
Reynoso is a right-handed power arm reliever that the FerryHawks wrote in a Tweet, “is a hard-throwing reliever who pounds the strike zone.”
Reynoso, who played first base, spent the early part of his professional baseball career in the Boston Red Sox system as a catcher before gracing a mound in 2018.
The 6-foot, 230-pounder has posted a 9-5 overall record in four seasons between foreign baseball, and affiliated and independent minor leagues (Bosie Hawks of Pioneer Baseball League). Plus, the 27-year-old Dominican Republic native recorded a 4.33 ERA with 49 whiffs in 72 and 2/3 innings of work in 46 tilts.
As a hitter, Reynoso batted .275 with seven home runs and 68 RBI in 465 at-bats in 172 contests.
