The Staten Island FerryHawks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today have inked former Minnesota Twins MiLB Pitcher of the Year, Williams Ramirez, who throws gas, for the upcoming season.
Ramirez fires a 95-96 miles per hour heater and as totaled a career ERA of 3.43 over eight seasons of professional ball, per Staten Island’s Tweet.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound righty, who the Twins signed in 2012 out of the Dominican Republic, spent seven years in Minnesota’s minor league system, compiling a 23-14 record with a 2.77 ERA while registering 404 punchouts in 344 and 2/3 innings of work in 168 games.
Additionally, Ramirez enjoyed three stints in winter ball with the Aguilas Cibaenas (2018-19, 2019-20) and Estrellas de Oriente (2020-21), both of which are a part of the Dominican Winter League.
This is the second signing of the day for the FerryHawks, who inked right-handed flame-thrower Connor Law earlier.
