Brooklyn’s St. Joseph’s Softball Manages Twin Bill Spilt on Day 3 of Fastpitch Dreams Classic

St. Joseph’s Bears (Brooklyn) spilt a doubleheader between Albright (15-0) and Mount Aloysius (13-5) Sunday on Day 3 at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

In the second game, the Division III Bears laced 18 hits, as catcher/third baseman Isabella Calabrese highlighted the day with a 4-4 performance, including an inside-the-park home run, her first dinger in her colligate career. She also drove in three runs while falling short of a cycle by a single.

Utility player Arianna Heinsch stroked 2-for-4 and scored three runs with three stolen bases.

St. Joseph righty pitcher Autumn Poppett fired a five-inning, four-hit, complete game shutout with five strikeouts for her first collegiate victory and to help the team manage the twin bill split.

In the first contest, outfielder Emily Burroughs paced St. Joseph’s with a 2-3 day with a RBI, run scored, and two doubles in the losing effort.

Catcher/third baseman Sofia Logreco scampered around the bases for the Bears’ second inside-the-park homer of the day.

St. Joseph ran its record to 2-1 on the young season. The Bears conclude their visit to Myrtle Beach with a doubleheader against Lycoming and Franciscan on Monday at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
