The New York Mets inked Cespedes in 2013 and he instantly became one of the top prospects in their system. He spent parts of four seasons with the Mets organization before they dealt him to the Marlins in 2018.

The 24-year-old batted .251 with four home runs, 96 RBI, and 37 stolen bases in 1101 at-bats in 293 games in six seasons of affiliated minor league baseball.

Cespedes, a Bronx native, spent part of the 2017 campaign with the then-Mets’ short season affiliate Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York Penn-League (NYPL), where he hit .225 with one homer and 12 RBI in 80 at-bats in 80 contests.
