The Catholic High School Athletic Assocation (CHSAA) of NYC today has named Monsignor McClancy sophomore guard Daniella Velez to its AA All-League First team, the school’s girls’ basketball program Tweeted.
Velez, the squad’s captain, has averaged 13 points (total of 297 for the year), four assists, and two steals. Plus, she has shot 35 percent from beyond the arc, and 75 percent from the free throw line.
While Velez, who plays AAU ball for the NYC Heat, does not hold any offers at the moment, McClancy Head Coach Dewey Hopkins said he expects that to change in due course, as she is a gifted player.
