The Staten Island FerryHawks of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) today have announced they have signed 24-year-old outfielder Mariel Bautista for the upcoming season.
Bautista played six years of baseball in the Cincinnati Reds organization, batting .284 with 26 home runs and 171 RBI in 1300 at-bats in 497 games. He reached as high as Double-AA with the Chattanooga Lookouts last year.
The 6-foot-3, 194-pound slugger from the Dominican Republic was the Reds’ number 13 prospect back in 2019.
Staten island’s recent signing brings the FerryHwaks’s to four players.
