Nelly Junior Joseph of Iona College men’s basketball picked up his second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week honors this campaign after the Gales’ two wins this past week, today the MAAC announced.
Junior Joseph averaged a double-double with 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in victories over host St. Peter’s last Tuesday and at home vs. Fairfield on Sunday. He also averaged 3.0 blocks and 2.5 steals.
Against the Peacocks, the 6-foot-9, 240-pound Benin City, Nigerian dropped in 17 points and grabbed 12 boards. He blocked a career-high six shots and recorded two steals and an assist.
Versus the Stags at the Hynes Center, Junior Joseph posted a 15-point, 10-rebound performance in a double-digit win. He fired 7-for-11 from the field in the game and had three steals while sitting the final 5:42 due to the lopsided score.
Junior Joseph captured the award previously this season following his performance at the 2021 ESPN Events Invitational.
