Chatham girls’ basketball Head Coach Joe Gaba calls senior forward Carly Frohnapfel the team’s unsung hero.
But Frohnapfel proved that she can stand out and step into the limelight as well, as she had a fantastic game, dropping in a career-best 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to help propel the No. 5 Cougars to a 53-39 victory over fourth-seeded Jefferson in the quarterfinals of New Jersey’s Morris County Tournament (MCT) on Saturday, in Rockaway.
Chatham increased its margin by 16 points, as it outscored the Falcons, 19-8, in the third period.
Cougar junior guard Riley Allen nailed three from beyond the arc in the third quarter and finished with a total of 12 points while sophomore Addison Barrett added 11 in the win.
Senior Ivana Tisma paced Jefferson (15-4) with 13 points, and 6-foot-3 junior Amanda Nwankwo scored nine.
Chatham (12-8) will square off versus top-seeded Morris Catholic (17-1) in the MCT semifinals at the County College of Morris on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
