Susan Wagner girls’ basketball team put forth a total team effort as it beat host Tottenville, 70-56, Wednesday night in a PSAL Staten Island league game.
Junior guard Nicole Melious paced the Lady Falcons (18-3, 12-0) with a triple-triple of 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Sophomore Saniyah Wilkerson contributed 11 points and grabbed an impressive 16 boards while senior Shanelle Smith added 15 in the victory.
Now, Melious has a total of 850 points on the season, breaking Claire Guerriero’s Staten Island single-season record of 839 points, which had stood since 1988, per source.
Currently, she has dropped in 1807 high school career points. Plus, the 5-foot-9 phenom is averaging 40.4 ppg in 21 contests.
Lady Pirates (12-7, 8-5) senior Alexa Zambino led her squad with 24 points.
Wagner hosts Port Richmond tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.
