Wagner basketball’s Nicole Melious continues to build her legacy at the Staten Island high school, as she drained a game-best 52 points to lead the Falcons to a lopsided 79-44 PSAL Class “A” win over Curtis (6-2, 5-1) Tuesday at home.
The Georgia Tech commit added six rebounds, four assists, and four blocks.
Wagner (9-3, 6-0) held a slight 36-35 margin going into the locker room but put the game away in the second half with 43 points to the Warriors’ 9, as well as playing lockdown defense.
As Melious is currently averaging over 41 points per contest, there are talks among high school basketball insiders that she is in consideration for the Gatorade Player of the Year award in New York state, per sources.
Falcon senior Shanelle Smith dropped in nine points, and sophomore Saniyah Wilkerson grabbed a contest-high 14 boards in the victory.
The Falcons travel to Port Richmond on Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. game.
