Wagner Girls’ Hoops Suffers 1st Loss of Season to FDA, 72-57

Wagner came up against its toughest opponent of the season and could not surmount the performances of gifted Frederick Douglass Academy (5-0, 8-0) seniors Khila Morris and Silvette Vargas, both of whom scored 33 and 18 points, respectively, handing the Lady Falcons their first defeat of the season, 72-57, in PSAL non-league play Saturday at home.

Junior guard Nicole Melious continued her dominance with another outstanding game, pouring in 39 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing out four assists for Wagner (4-0, 2-1).

Through seven games, Melious has amassed 316 points, 1262 career points, good for 45.1 average per tilt this year.
