2022 Culpepper (Va.) Blue Ridge power forward Maliq Brown has committed to Syracuse Men’s Basketball program, today multiple outlets Tweeted.
The listed 6-foot-9, 210-pounder had a number of high profile college basketball programs such as Penn State, NC State, Georgetown, and Virginia Tech, as well as St. John’s, VCU, Wake Forest, TCU, and Texas A&M, among others, offering him a hoops scholarship.
However, Syracuse had been pursuing him since last year, and that interest did not fade this year, according to a source. Therefore, Brown said he went with the Orange in the end due to the coaching staff’s earnest efforts.
Brown is now the fourth member of Syracuse’s 2022 class. He joins point guard Quadir Copeland, shooting guard Justin Taylor and center Peter Carey.
The Orange posted am 18-10 0verall mark and went 9-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) this past season.
