The Golden State Warriors selected former Patrick School (N.J.) and NBA G League Ignite swingman Jonathan Kuminga with the seventh pick in the 2021 NBA Draft today, multiple outlets reported.
The 6-foot-8, 210-pounder, who is originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, held the national No. 2 high school ranking in the 2020 campaign behind ’22 elite prospect Emoni Bates.
But he decided to reclassify and forwent his college eligibility to sign with the Ignite, where he averaged 15.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal in ’20.
Kuminga arguably possesses the most upside in the draft, and will be a work-in-progress player for the Warriors.
Kuminga, who transferred to The Patrick School in Elizabeth (N.J.) for his junior season, scored 228 points, grabbed 66 rebounds, and dished out 34 assists in 14 games, that is an averaged of 16.3 ppg, 4.71 rpg, and 2.4 apg for the Celtics.
