2021 Leadership Academy for Young Men (NY) guard Maurice McKinney, Jr. has inked a letter of intent with Division II Roberts Wesleyan College Men’s Basketball program, today the school Tweeted.
Additionally, McKinney, Jr. is a 6-foot-1, 176-pound point guard from Rochester, NY, who had another offer from D II Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y.

McKinney Jr., played for Kason Morrison, the head coach and director of the AAU 17U WNY Xrossover hoops program. He averaged 23.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists with the squad. McKinney also shot an impressive 56 percent from three-point land this season, per his coach, saying, “He’s an amazing player.
“For him to just turn 18 and to have a work ethic that you don’t find in athletes that are 25 is crazy to me,” he added. “He shoots the ball at a high level. Defensively, he wants to guard the other teams best player. He makes the right decision at the right time. He’s a special kid that will leave his mark at Roberts.”
The Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks posted an 8-7 overall record and went 6-3 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play this past season.
