Another day of competition breeds two more wins yesterday for the Hoopers NY AAU 17U squad at the United States Junior Nationals’ (USJN) Premier Showcase at the Indianapolis Convention Center.
A fiercely competitive guard, Nicole Melious (Susan Wagner, NY) led Hoopers NY (4-0) to a 20-point victory over the Illinois Hoopers with a 24-point, 11-assist effort.
Vivienne Knee (Lycee Francais de New York) also enjoyed a double-double performance with 14 points and 15 rebounds of her own. Combo guard Kaetlyn L’Amoreaux (Maine-Endwell) added 12 points in the win.
Melious came back in the second tilt and drained 23 points while handing out nine dimes in a victory against the Dayton Hoopers.
Army commit Julie Laguna (Christ the King) contributed 15 points and seven boards and L’Amoreaux drained 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and made five steals.
NY Hoopers today return to play PA Irish at 10:30 and Sharpe NJ Jersey at 4:30, with the playoffs on Thursday.
