AAU Hoopers NY 17U squad was back in action at the United States Junior Nationals’ (USJN) Premier Showcase at the Indianapolis Convention Center today, winning both of its game against stiff competition.
First, Hoopers NY knocked off Michigan Fire, with Georgia Tech commit Nicole Melious (Susan Wagner, NY) leading the charge with 24 points. Army commit Julie Laguna (Christ the King) and Maya Watts (Arlington, NY) contributed 15 and 10 points, respectively.
In the second contest, Hoopers NY upended Illinois Evolution. Melious surpassed her game-one scoring output with a team-high 27 points, while Nicole Sanfilippo (Ardsley, NY) chipped in with 13 and Cornell commit Vivienne Knee (Lycee Francais de New York) adding 11 in the victory.
The NY Hoopers returns to action Tuesday versus Chicago Tri in Game One (10:30 a.m.) and Dayton Lady Metro in the second tilt (4:30 p.m.).
