St. Peter’s Prep High School (NJ) four-star guard Mark Armstrong today has committed to Head Coach Jay Wright and Villanova Basketball, according to sources.
“I’m thankful to be welcomed into the Villanova family,” Armstrong said in a Tweet on 247Sports. “I’m looking forward to having a good time there and I’m excited to play in front of Nova fans.”
Armstrong, who also plays for the AAU NY Lightning, had offers from Auburn, DePaul, Stanford, and Hofstra, among others.
Armstrong, a gifted 6-foot-2, 160-pound junior combo guard, drained an impressive 558 points (19.93 ppg) and grabbed 95 (3.39 rpg) rebounds in 28 games last season with St. Peter’s Prep.
Additionally, Armstrong, who hails from South Orange, N.J., proved to be a strong defender, blocking 22 shots and making 73 steals.
Armstrong will suit up for the Wildcats, who posted an 18-7 overall record and went 11-4 in Big East Conference play, in the 2022-23 campaign. Nova lost to eventual March Madness Champs and top-seed Baylor in a NCAA Tournament South Regional semifinal.
