A little over two weeks ago, Nicole Sanfilippo of Ardsley High School (NY) received an offer from Syracuse University Women’s Basketball program.
Today, the junior guard, who also plays AAU hoops for Hoopers NY, verbally accepted said offer and will suit up for the Orange Basketball in the 2023-24 campaign, Hoopers NY Tweeted.
In addition to Syracuse, Sanfilippo had offers from Moorehead State, the University of Texas-Arlington, and Hawaii. Plus, the the 5-foot-9 lethal shooter gardened interest from colleges in the Big 10, Big East, A10, MAAC, Patriot, and NEC conferences, per Bryan Williams, Hoopers NY program director and 16U Elite coach.
Last season at Ardsley High School, Sanfilippo drained 18 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out three assists per game.
With Hoopers NY, the Westchester, N.Y., native continued her high level of brilliance with 16.8 points, 7.1 boards, 5.5 assists, and 3.4 steals per contest in 123 games. Plus, she had sunk an amazing 94 percent of her foul shots, so fouling Sanfilippo is not a viable option for the opposition.
The Orange is 11-4 overall and 8-4 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) action thus far. Syracuse posted a 16-15 record and went 9-9 on ACC play last year.
