Indianapolis Colts’ linebacker Darius Leonard stepped out of his comfort zone and issued a challenge to WWE’s Triple H on the company’s digital show, The Bump .
“The Manic” said he wants to meet “The Game” in the ring.
However, after learning of Leonard’s provocation, Triple H, WWE Executive VP of Talent Strategy and Development, instead offered to team up with the two-time Pro Bowler on Wednesday NXT show.
Leonard said he loved Triple H’s idea and looks forward to joining him on the company’s talent development show.
“Of course, I got to,” as Leonard emphatically replied yes to Triple H’s innovation on the NFL Network. “I rather be his partner instead of going against him. I think we’ll make a bad tag team, so I am looking forward to that.”
With WrestleMania 37 approaching on April 10 and April 11 in Tampa, Florida, at Raymond James Stadium, could this spin into a match against a formidable NTX tag team on pro wrestling’s grandest stage?
You bet, in my opinion.
It won’t be the first time NFL players jumped into a WWE ring. Rob Gronkowski, Lawrence Taylor, William ’The Refrigerator’ Perry, and Ben Roethlisberger are a few NFLers who traded in their cleats for a pair of wrestling trunks for a short-lived WWE run.
