Running back Kalen Ballage played under then-Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase as a rookie in 2018 and averaged 5.3 yards per touch on 36 rushes.
So, current Jets Head Coach Gates and New York acquired Ballage, 24, for a 2021 conditional seventh-round draft pick to the Fish, today New York announced on NewYorkJets.com.
The fourth-round pick out of Arizona State in ’18 appeared in 24 games (six starts) and rushed for 326 yards and four touchdowns on 110 carries with the Dolphins over the past two seasons.
Ballage played four seasons at ASU and rushed for 1,984 yards (4.4 avg) and 27 TDs on 450 carries. He added 82 receptions, 682 receiving yards, and two receiving scores.
The six-two, 231-pound Ballage also returned kicks for the Sun Devils, averaging 22.1 yards per return.
