It was a tough battle for UFC strawweight Rose Namajunas, who took a three-round decision over Jessica Andrade, an opponent whom the 28-year-old lost her title to 14 months ago, last night at UFC 251 at the Flash Forum on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Namajunas fought an impressive first two rounds and valiantly absorbed everything Andrade had in her arsenal in the third round to emerge victorious.
In fact, if you look at the two fighters, the 5-foot-5-inch, 115-pound Milwaukee, WA, native looked worse for wear. But that didn’t matter, as Thug claimed triumph in the end.
Afterwards, Namajunas promised to auction off her fighting gear to raise money for UFC make-up artist Suzy Friton’s cancer treatment.
Andrade, who dropped the strap to current champ Zhang Weili, has now lost her last two fights.
Namajunas, who’s No. 2 in the UFC women’s strawweight rankings and 6th best in UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings, could be now granted a title shot after her hard fought win.
