Sioux Falls’ infielder Alay Lago went 4-5 at the plate with three singles, a double and a run scored, helping the Canaries defeat the St. Paul Saints (2-2), 5-3, as the visiting team at Sioux Falls Stadium, their home field, to improve their record to 2-2 on the young season.
Lago is now batting .412 at a seven for 17 clip with a home run and RBI through four games to start the year.
Righty pitcher Keaton Steele secured the win for the Canaries in the bottom of the ninth to earn the save.
Starting hurler Sam Bragg (1-0) earned the victory in his first start of the season, while Ryan Zimmerman (0-1) took the loss for St. Paul.
