If you’re a fan of baseball and bobbleheads, and even the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Dogs of the independent American Association of Professional Baseball on Tuesday, July 7 at 7:05 p.m. will be giving away a commemorative bobblehead of legendary, former Chicago Bears football head coach Mike Ditka donning a Dogs-inspired sweater to every fan in attendance.
Coach Ditka will return to Impact Field for the Dogs’ 2021 home opener to co-manage the team alongside Butch Hobson.
“We look forward to welcoming both baseball and fans back to Impact Field this summer. We’ve built a great promotional calendar for the season where each of our 30 home games will be a special event,” Chicago Dogs co-owner Shawn Hunter said on the team’s website. “On opening day, we’ll celebrate legendary coach Mike Ditka and look forward to having him back at Impact Field next year.”
Ditka, a tight end as a Hall of fame player, was an NFL champion with the 1963 Bears, and is a three-time overall Super Bowl champion, playing on the Cowboys Super Bowl VI team as well as winning as an assistant coach for the Cowboys in Super Bowl XII. Plus, and who could forget him coaching the Bears to victory in Super Bowl XX?
Chicago will kick off a three-game series against the Milwaukee Milkmen that night.
