The New Jets today have signed veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, according to media reports.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday, the former Super Bowl MVP with the Baltimore Ravens has a contract worth $1.5 million but can increase to as much as $4.5 million with incentives, Schefter noted.

Jets GM Joe Douglas was a Ravens’ scout in 2008 when Baltimore drafted Flacco in the first round. Now Flacco, 35, will rejoin Douglas, and compete for the backup job when he has fully mended from last season’s neck injury and is ready for the position.

If he wins the spot, Flacco will be second string behind 2018 third overall pick Sam Darnold, while David Fales is also on the roster.

Flacco went 2-6 with 1,822 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions with the Denver Broncos in the 2019-campaign.

The Vorhees, N.J., native owns a 61.9 completion rate with 40067 yards, 218 touchdowns, 141 picks, and an 84.1 QB rating for his twelve-year career.
