After months of speculation, Brooklyn High School for Law and Tech’s Kiya Marquez will be attending Niagara County Community College (Sanborn, N.Y.) to study and play for the college’s Women’s Basketball team, Lady Jets head coach Michael Lloyd tweeted today.
Marquez leaves BHSLT as the girls’ program’s all-time leading scorer, reaching the 1000-point mark as a junior, and was a three-time All-NYS guard as well.
NCCC head coach Nate Beutel said on Twitter: “Kiya Marquez is a big-time baller. Can’t wait to get her up here in West New York!”
The 5-foot-7 Brooklyn native help lead the Lady Jets to a dominate 59-32 win over Adams Street Academy in the PSAL B Girl’s Championship game as a junior, and took the team to the finals as a sophomore, a nail-biting 44-43 defeat to John Jay Campus.
BHSLT finished with 16-0 mark in conference play and went 6-4 in non-conference action. The Lady Jets made it to the Class A semifinals against New Dorp before the PSAL called the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Thunderwolves posted am impressive 30-1 record and went 8-0 in Western New York Athletic Conference play.
