Verbal Commits D2 today on Twitter has announced that former Division-II Southern New Hampshire and Division-I Stony Brook guard Michael Almonacy has entered the transfer portal.
Almonacy spent one season with the Penmen in 2019-20, averaging 15.6 points per game in 28 games.
Before that, the six-foot, 180 pound Brentwood, Long Island, native played two seasons with the Seawolves. Almonacy posted 119 points and 56 assists in 51 contests across two years at Stony Brook.
A 2016 graduate of Brentwood High School, Almonacy is the program’s all-time leading scorer (1,655), shattering the record of former Los Angeles Lakers forward Mitch Kupchak.
Additionally, he’s a three-time first-team All-Long Island hoopster and averaged 18.4 points and 8.4 assists per game as a senior.
Plus, Almonacy picked up the Suffolk County Player of the Year honor as a junior after averaging 15.3 ppg and led Brentwood to Class AA New York State Federation title game that same campaign. He was also a three-time NYSSWA All-New York recipient.
